I had no idea what the cellular industry was all about, but man, I'm sure familiar with it now!
Week one of "real" work (well, first 4 days, I work tomorrow) have been pretty good, for the most part. I like my other co-worker that I finally got to meet on Monday, we get along pretty well, and he definitely knows his stuff. The store managers are pretty cool, and very patient with Laura and I, which is very helpful. We are starting to get it down though, I even opened on my own this morning! My only real complaint is that my feet hurt like crazy when I get off work. I'm not used to standing on them for 8+ hours per day, and on top of that, I've clocked 4 hours of overtime so far for the next check, not counting if I get any overtime tomorrow.
Anyhow, I know it's a short update, but I have stuff I gotta get done before I go to bed. Don't forget to do *228 option 2 on your phones, people! Especially Verizon customers!

Shelby is leaving the building!!!
OMG finally. I get to go home tomorrow.
It's not that I haven't enjoyed my time doing training, but I swear to God and all that is holy, my feet cannot take any more abuse. During mentor week, rather than doing five 8 hour shifts, we did four 10's, because my co-worker has to be back in town for a wedding on Saturday. My feets are screaming.
Couple reflections on training (some of which I may have already mentioned, but oh well):
On Denver: Was odd to get along with everyone in my original training class. It's not often that you can shove 24 people plus 2 trainers into a small room and have everyone get along. This was surprising. Even our primary trainer commented on it, and mentioned that she hadn't met a training group that got along as quickly as we all did. We were pretty well all friends by the end of the first Monday, and she said that never happens.
On mentor week: Was odd to get along with my mentor. I honestly was worried that I wouldn't, and that we would not have an easy time of it, but once again, I was proven wrong. My mentor was awesome, and let us move at the pace we felt comfortable. As of yesterday I was handling transactions on my own, with only the occasional question for her.
On the co-worker: I like my co-worker. She's really nice, and I'm glad I'll be able to work alongside her. I also look forward to meeting my other co-worker that I haven't met yet. He strikes me as the type to be a bit of a smart-ass, which means we will get along just fine. I got to talk to him for a minute during the conference call last Tuesday, and I'll get to meet him on Monday when I actually start working.
On travel: If I don't get on a plane in the next month, you will not hear me complain at all. I am so done with flying.
On packing: do not want to. Why can't they make a CTP? Clothing transfer protocol? Where I can just dump all my clothes in a tube and they end up in my apartment.
Anyhow, on that last note, it's time for me to start packing my stuff in preparation for yet 2 more plane rides tomorrow. Catch ya on the flip, everyone!

On the road again...
*sigh*
Will the traveling ever stop?
I'm currently in Boise, Idaho. I flew home from Denver on Friday evening, got in around 11:45. Went out to my mom and stepdad's house, and then left Missoula again today at 1 PM to come here to Boise for my mentoring week.
The hotel I'm staying in is pretty nice, I was pretty surprised when I walked in the door, that's for sure. The rental car that the company is paying for is nice as well, it's a 2008 Mercury Milan, that thing gets up and goes pretty darn quick!
So, my plans for the evening consist of surfing the net, and signing up for my insurance benefits. Hoping to hear from my friends that I made in Denver, I miss them very much.
That's my update for today, I'll be updating again throughout the week, so keep your eyes peeled!

Denver update
So, here I am in Denver, late Tuesday of my week 2 training. Training has been WAY different than what I ever could have expected. I honestly expected it to be all stuffy and starched collars, and I can honestly say it's been anything but. I get along with just about everyone, which is absolutely fantastic. There are certainly some folks that I am going to miss dreadfully when we all part ways on Friday afternoon. Got everyone's cell numbers though, so I imagine there will be tons of texts flying across the nation afterwards, probably with the end comment of "You're a towel!" God, I'm gonna miss these guys, and that's the truth.
Training itself has been alright. I (for the most part) like both of my instructors, however I'm not necessarily keen on one's teaching style. She's in training, and it shows. She's a nice lady though, and the other trainer is as much of a nerd as I am, which is awesome. I have also found kindred spirits in some of the other nerds/geeks in the class.
However, one side effect of the training has been that my alcohol consumption has increased dramatically, LOL! I swear, I have drank more in the past 5 days than I have in the past year. I think I needed it though, I haven't ever really "cut loose" in any aspect of my life, not in a long while. As anyone that knows me can attest, most of the people I hang out with are the guys in the group. I've always been somewhat of a tomboy, and it especially has been showing this week. I mean seriously, how many other chicks can talk cars, computers, and guns with someone and actually KNOW what she's talking about?
Anyhow, I'm rambling. I've been enjoying training a lot. I head back home on Friday, and then I get Saturday off, then Sunday I head out from Missoula to Boise for my mentoring week. Then, I'm sure I'll be starting in the regular store, so I'm staying busy.
Things in my personal life are going okay, for the most part. I'll be honest though, I've been so busy with training and such this week that I haven't really had the time to focus on my personal life. I'm sure that will change as soon as I get home though, as I'll have more time alone to dwell on it. I have honestly been anything BUT alone on this trip, as there's always somebody asking me to hang out, or a large group of us will chill out in someone's room while we all talk over each other. Some of us are planning on going to the 12:20 AM showing of Dark Knight on Thursday night (well, technically Friday), considering that the giant screen theater is all of 3 blocks from our hotel. Should be good times.
Anyhow, I gotta get in the shower here in a minute and get ready to get myself to bed. 6 AM comes dang early, and I only got 3 hours sleep last night.
Hope all is well with everyone, and I'll hopefully be updating more often, LOL!
